Ingredients
For the Chocolate Cake
- 2 cups flour
- 1⅔ cups sugar
- ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1½ tsp baking soda
- 1½ tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup hot water or hot coffee (makes the cake darker and moister)
For the Chocolate Cream Filling
- 300 g dark chocolate
- 1½ cups heavy cream
- 3 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp cocoa powder (optional, for extra depth)
For the Shiny Chocolate Ganache
- 250 g dark chocolate
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp butter (for shine)

Instructions
1. Make the Cake Layers
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Grease and line 2 square or round baking pans.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla – whisk until smooth.
- Pour in the hot water (or hot coffee) slowly; the batter will become thin – this is normal.
- Divide into the pans and bake 30–35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool completely before assembling.
2. Prepare the Chocolate Cream Filling
- Heat the cream in a saucepan until warm (not boiling).
- Pour over the chopped chocolate in a bowl.
- Add butter, then mix until you get a glossy, creamy texture.
- Let it cool until thick enough to spread.
This is the layer you see in the middle of the cake in your picture.
3. Assemble the Cake
- Place the first cake layer on a tray.
- Spread a thick, even layer of the chocolate cream filling.
- Place the second cake layer on top and press gently.
- Refrigerate for 20 minutes so the filling sets.
4. Prepare the Shiny Ganache Glaze
- Heat the cream until just steaming.
- Remove from heat and pour over the chocolate.
- Add butter and stir until ultra-smooth.
- Allow it to cool slightly (it should still be pourable but thick).
5. Cover the Cake
- Pour the ganache over the entire cake, letting it drip over the sides.
- Use a spatula to smooth the top until glossy and even (like the photo).
- Chill for at least 1 hour.
